授業の目的?内容 ／Course Objectives

1. To help students understand the typical structure of a ‘good’ essay 2. To help students understand (genre-specific) patterns of essay organization 3. To help students plan essays 4. To help students use a variety of references and utilize Internet sources 5. To help students revise and edit their essays 6. To help students develop computer literacy skills 7. To help students become more familiar with referencing and creating a bibliography (MLA or APA styles)

授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course

Students will have learnt the skills of paragraph format & basic essay composition by the end of their first year of English writing study. This course will guide students in the skills of research paper composition from topic choice, through research techniques, to presentation of data, outline, peer review & final submission. The selected textbook provides a step-by-step approach to this process, with a clear focus in each chapter, to be supplemented by regular homework tasks. This class will be delivered face to face on the university campus, with supplemental elements available online.
