授業の目的?内容 ／Course Objectives

This one-semester course is compulsory for first-year students. Overall Objectives 1. To increase their vocabulary and strategies for grasping meaning of vocabulary in texts 2. To review grammar and cohesive devises 3. To develop basic reading skills and strategies (pre-reading, during reading and after reading strategies) 4. To develop comprehension strategies to understand reading materials without translating them into Japanese 5. To clarify the structure of a paragraph or essay (dependent on the level of the students)

授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course

Reading Strategies I (Honors) is an advanced level reading course designed to help students develop effective skills and practices for improving their reading comprehension and vocabulary. Classes will in principle be held live and in person on the Dokkyo University campus. Students will have the option to attend face-to-face or remotely, via live Zoom. Course materials (readings, homework assignments, etc.) will be made available for download via the classroom management platform Edmodo, which students will easily be able to sign in to and gain access.
